Alternative Tour of the South

A leisurly half day tour of the South including the Blue Grotto, a number of villages and the Falconry Centre.

The tour will start with a drive to the Zurrieq valley in order to view the Blue Grotto from the platform above, a truly stunning view. Having seen the grotto from a height, you will then be taken down to the bottom of the road, for another amazing view, that of the fjord, which harbours the colourful little boats, which do a 20 minute boat trip around the caves. (the fare: 8 euro/person)

We will follow up with the village Siggiewi, a quiet little village which has hardly changed with the times. The village focuses onto its parish church, a magnificent baroque church (closed at the time of your visit), dominating the village square, where stands a statue of St. Nicholas to whom the town is dedicated.

The tour ends with an interesting visit to the Falconry Centre, only a short distance away from Siggiewi, in the little village Mqabba. The falconers will be flying trained birds of prey, to delight all that have an interest in these birds. Here, we will see a variety of birds, amongst them the famous Maltese falcon. The visit involves an entrance fee of 6 euro/person.
